Raiffeisen Bank Albania completes full migration to the cloud, becoming the first bank in Albania to carry out this transformation
An important step in the bank’s digital transformation, creating a new technological foundation for innovation and the development of banking services.
Tirana, 28 September 2026 – Raiffeisen Bank Albania successfully completed, on 17 September 2026, the full migration of its core applications and technological infrastructure to the cloud. With this achievement, the bank becomes the first bank in Albania and the first within the Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) network to carry out such a full-scale transformation.
This development marks an important milestone in Raiffeisen Bank Albania’s digital transformation journey, establishing a new technological foundation to support innovation, the further development of services, and the needs of a constantly evolving banking market.
After 22 years of operating on its existing infrastructure, the full migration to the cloud represents a significant technological and operational transformation. The project was carried out through a complex process that required months of work, specialized expertise, and close cooperation between the teams of Raiffeisen Bank Albania, Raiffeisen Bank International, and the technology partners involved.
Erion Serti, Member of the Management Board and CIO/COO of Raiffeisen Bank Albania, said: “On 17 September 2026, we marked a historic moment for Raiffeisen Bank Albania. For 22 years, our technological infrastructure has supported the bank’s operations 24 hours a day, every day of the week, including nights and public holidays. Today, we have completed the migration of our applications to the cloud. This is not a partial migration or a hybrid model, but a full transformation. We have moved 100% to the cloud, achieving something that no other bank in Albania has accomplished before.”
David Zeller, CTO of Raiffeisen Bank International, emphasized the importance of this project for the entire RBI network: “Raiffeisen Bank Albania is the first bank within the RBI network to achieve this important objective. Being first requires more than a clear ambition; it requires a team with the expertise and determination to carry through a complex transformation to completion. This achievement proves once again that a dedicated and well-prepared team can accomplish even objectives that may seem impossible.”
